Sun bathing is a great way to get your Vitamin D and so many other health benefits, but it must be done with a little bit of caution and care.
Here are a few tips for practicing safe sun exposure:
- Start getting some sun in the spring when the sun is not as strong.
- Spend a few minutes in the sun each day (5-10 to start), preferable sometime before noon.
- This exposure will build up melanin production in your skin which will protect you from burns as the sun becomes stronger in the summer months.
- Listen to your body. If you are feeling hot, or your skin is becoming flushed, it’s time to go inside for the day or find some shade.
